  Item: The disinfectant and pH in the spa water shall be manually tested and documented each day within one-half hour of the spa opening and at least one other time throughout the day. Chlorine shall be between 2.0 & 8.0 and pH shall be between 7.0 & 7.8. If either of these levels are out of range, the spa shall be closed.
  Comment: Please ensure spa chlorine is 2ppm or greater.
   
2) Safety Pool: 15.4(4)f(1) 17
  Item: A minimum of one unit of lifesaving equipment shall be provided for each 1500 sq. ft. of water surface area or fraction thereof. The area of a swimming pool where the water is 2 ft. deep or less may be subtracted from the total area for this requirement. A swimming pool is not required to have more than ten units of lifesaving equipment.
  Comment: Please attach rope to rescue buoy.

  Item: The agitation system control (timer) shall be installed out of the reach of persons in the spa. The "on" cycle for the agitation system shall be no more than ten minutes
  Comment: Timer runs for 15 minutes. Please place screw after the 10-minute mark to ensure timer stops at 10 minutes.

These items must be corrected as soon as possible in order to comply with the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pool and Spa Rules. A letter regarding the actions which will be taken in order to correct all deficiencies must be submitted within 30 days to this office. If for any reason you take issue with any of the items cited regarding swimming pool rules, a variance can be requested by following the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pools manual, amended July 8th, 2009, page 57, section 641-15.7 (135I). Variance requests regarding spa rules must be made in compliance with the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Spa manual, revised July 8th, 2009, page 32, section 641-15.7 (135I).
