Notes: :
Routine inspection today.
Facility recetly changed owners.

Please email a letter of correction stating how the violations listed below have been and/or will be corrected to diane.midcalf@linncountyiowa.gov within 30 days of this inspection.

Also, continue to mitigate trip hazards on deck. The area around the wading pool is very uneven. Start thinking of a long-term plan for this area, but do not make any changes without a reconstruction permit.

# Section Reference Ref. Page
1) Water Quality Pool: 15.4(3)a(1) 12
Spa: 15.51(3)a(1) 12
Item: Equipment for continuous feed of chlorine, a chlorine compound or a bromine compound and/or equipment for the continuous feed of a chemical for pH adjustment to the swimming pool / spa shall be provided and shall be fully operational
Comment: Currently, CO2 is missing and acid is being hand-fed for pH control. This is not safe or allowed by Iowa Pool Code. Recommend replacing missing CO2 tank. It is safer than muratic acid. If you choose to change your system to use muratic acid, you will need to apply for a reconstruction permit from the state of Iowa (provided), pay a $250 fee, and provide plans and specifications that are sealed and certified by a licensed architect or engineer prior to making any changes to the current system.

2) Safety Pool: 15.4(4)f(6) 18
Spa: 15.51(4)d 13
Item: Swimming pools where lifeguards are not provided shall have a designated emergency phone and shall be available to users of swimming pools when the swimming pool is open. When the telephone is not within the confines of the swimming pool, the location of the emergency telephone shall be posted in a conspicuous place within the swimming pool enclosure. Instructions for emergency use of the telephone, and the address of the facility shall be posted near the telephone.
Comment: New emergency phone does not work. Fix or replace. Post address of facility by phone. Test weekly. Landlines are much preferred over battery-operated phones.

3) Safety Pool: 15.4(4)l(3) 21
Spa: 15.51(4)k(3) 16
Item: At least one gate or door with an opening of at least 36 inches in width shall be provided for emergency purposes. Gates and doors shall be lockable. Except where lifeguard or structural program supervision is provided whenever the swimming pool is open, gates and doors shall be self-closing and self-latching
Comment: Ensure main gate is self-latching

4) Safety Pool: 15.4(4)n(1)8 23
Item: Rooms or buildings where chlorine is stored or used shall be placarded in accordance with 875--Chapter 140, Iowa Administrative Code
