1 Free Cl and pH readings every 2 hrs, and manual tests twice daily
2 Alkalinity weekly
3 GFCI and Cal Hardness monthly
4 Backwashing, draining, cleaning, adding chemicals

The controller is off. Set at 750 ORP, running 805 ORP, but not calling for chlorine. Check probes and overall functioning.

  Item: "Spa Rules" signage incorrectly posted. Rule sign shall include (1) Persons with a medical condition, including pregnancy, should not use the spa without first consulting with a physician. (2) Anyone having a contagious disease shall not use the spa. (3) Persons shall not use the spa immediately following exercise or while under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or other drugs. (4) Persons shall not use the spa alone or without supervision. (5) Children shall be accompanied by an adult. (6) Persons shall not use the spa longer than ten minutes. (7) No one shall dive or jump into the spa. (8) The maximum patron load of the spa. (The maximum patron load of a spa is one individual per 2 lineal ft of inner edge of seat or bench.)

  Item: Swimming pools where lifeguards are not provided shall have a designated emergency phone and shall be available to users of swimming pools when the swimming pool is open. When the telephone is not within the confines of the swimming pool, the location of the emergency telephone shall be posted in a conspicuous place within the swimming pool enclosure. Instructions for emergency use of the telephone, and the address of the facility shall be posted near the telephone.

  Item: A minimum of one unit of lifesaving equipment shall be provided for each 1500 sq. ft. of water surface area or fraction thereof. The area of a swimming pool where the water is 2 ft. deep or less may be subtracted from the total area for this requirement. A swimming pool is not required to have more than ten units of lifesaving equipment.

The plan shall include, but may not be limited to, actions to be taken in cases of drowning, serious illness or injury, chemical-handling accidents, weather emergencies, and other serious incidents. The emergency plan shall be reviewed with the facility staff at least once a year, and the dates of review or training shall be recorded in the pool records

These items must be corrected as soon as possible in order to comply with the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pool and Spa Rules. A letter regarding the actions which will be taken in order to correct all deficiencies must be submitted within 30 days to this office. If for any reason you take issue with any of the items cited regarding swimming pool rules, a variance can be requested by following the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pools manual, amended July 8th, 2009, page 57, section 641-15.7 (135I). Variance requests regarding spa rules must be made in compliance with the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Spa manual, revised July 8th, 2009, page 32, section 641-15.7 (135I).
