  Item: "Pool Rules" signage incorrectly posted. Rules sign shall include No diving in shallow end, No horseplay, and No running on deck. Post conspicuously at a minimum of 2 locations within the swimming pool enclosure.

Rule sign shall include Persons with medical condition, including pregnancy, should not use the spa without first consulting with a physician, Anyone having a contagious disease shall not use the spa, Persons shall not use the spa immediately following exercise or while under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or other drugs, Persons shall not use the spa alone or without supervision, Children shall not be accompanied by an adult, Persons shall not use the spa longer than ten minutes, Persons shall not use the spa longer than 10 minutes, No one shall dive or jump into spa.

  Item: A spa containing 500 gal of water or less shall be drained once a week, a spa over 500 gal to 2000 gal shall be drained once every 2 weeks, and a spa over 2000 gal shall be drained once every 3 weeks
  Comment: Please figure out how many gallons of water your spa holds, drain and clean at the appropriate intervals and document it on your pool log sheets.

  Item: Depth Markers shall be painted or otherwise marked on the deck within 3 ft. of the edge of the swimming pool
  Comment: Please replace pealed and faded depth markers and no diving sings that are on the deck

  Item: A first-aid kit shall be equipped with: band-aids, sterile 4x4 bandage compress, self-adhering gauze bandage, disposable gloves, and a chemical cold press.
  Comment: Please add 4x4’s and self adhering gauge to first aid kit in pool area
   
7) Safety Pool: 15.4(4)f(1) 17
  Item: A minimum of one unit of lifesaving equipment shall be provided for each 1500 sq. ft. of water surface area or fraction thereof. The area of a swimming pool where the water is 2 ft. deep or less may be subtracted from the total area for this requirement. A swimming pool is not required to have more than ten units of lifesaving equipment.
  Comment: Please replace ring lifesaving unit with one with a rope attached
   
8) Safety Spa: 15.51(4)l 16
  Item: The agitation system control (timer) shall be installed out of the reach of persons in the spa. The "on" cycle for the agitation system shall be no more than ten minutes

These items must be corrected as soon as possible in order to comply with the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pool and Spa Rules. A letter regarding the actions which will be taken in order to correct all deficiencies must be submitted within 30 days to this office. If for any reason you take issue with any of the items cited regarding swimming pool rules, a variance can be requested by following the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pools manual, amended July 8th, 2009, page 57, section 641-15.7 (135I). Variance requests regarding spa rules must be made in compliance with the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Spa manual, revised July 8th, 2009, page 32, section 641-15.7 (135I).
