Pool was closed upon inspection today due to not having any chlorine in it, pH being > 8.2, and pool registration not updated with new name and owners of facility. At minimum, these things along with 48 hours of chemical readings shall be documented and a special reinspection from me shall be done prior to the pool being reopened.   Comment: Water should be tested for chlorine and pH 1/2 hour prior to opening each day and at intervals not to exceed every 4 hours thereafter as long as the pool is open. At least two of those tests have to be manual, the others can be done by recording the ORP and pH from the automatic controller. The pool shall be immediately closed if at any time the chlorine is below 0.6 or above 8.0, or the pH is below 6.8 or above 8.2, or the ORP is below 650 or above 880.

  Comment: Have a ‘CHEMICAL HAZZARD WARNING’ sign posted on each set of doors entering the halllway where chemicals are stored. Also have both set of door locked at all times.

These items must be corrected as soon as possible in order to comply with the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pool and Spa Rules. A letter regarding the actions which will be taken in order to correct all deficiencies must be submitted within 30 days to this office. If for any reason you take issue with any of the items cited regarding swimming pool rules, a variance can be requested by following the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pools manual, amended July 8th, 2009, page 57, section 641-15.7 (135I). Variance requests regarding spa rules must be made in compliance with the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Spa manual, revised July 8th, 2009, page 32, section 641-15.7 (135I).
