  Item: "No Lifeguard" signage incorrectly posted
  Comment: Post a sign specifically stating ‘No Lifeguard on Duty’ on the outside of the entrance gate.
   
2) Management/Personnel Pool: 15.4(6)b 23
  Item: "Pool Rules" signage incorrectly posted. Rules sign shall include No diving in shallow end, No horseplay, and No running on deck. Post conspicuously at a minimum of 2 locations within the swimming pool enclosure.
  Comment: Have two ‘Pool Rules’ signs in pool area.
   
3) Marking Pool: 15.4(4)i(1) 19
  Item: The bottom and sides of a swimming pool shall be white or a light color
  Comment: The pool should be white or a light color, not blue. Please repaint it a lighter color at next draining of the pool or at least prior to reopening in 2022. It is ok for the 2021 season since it is already filled.
   
4) Marking Pool: 15.4(4)j(7) 20
  Item: Letters, numbers, and graphics marked on the deck shall be slip-resistant, of a color contrasting with the deck and at least 4 inches in height.
  Comment: Repaint depth markers and no diving verbiage on the deck black, or a very dark blue for better contrast and easier visibility. Please do this asap.

  Item: Spa ladders, handrails, and grab rails shall be securely anchored.
  Comment: Tighten handrails at shallow entrance and on the ladder

  Item: When stairs are provided for entry into a swimming pool, a stripe at least 1 inch wide of a color contrasting with the step surface and with the swimming pool floor shall be marked at the top front edge of each tread. The stripe shall be slip-resistant.

These items must be corrected as soon as possible in order to comply with the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pool and Spa Rules. A letter regarding the actions which will be taken in order to correct all deficiencies must be submitted within 30 days to this office. If for any reason you take issue with any of the items cited regarding swimming pool rules, a variance can be requested by following the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pools manual, amended July 8th, 2009, page 57, section 641-15.7 (135I). Variance requests regarding spa rules must be made in compliance with the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Spa manual, revised July 8th, 2009, page 32, section 641-15.7 (135I).
