  Item: A permanent manual of operation shall be kept in facility
  Comment: Did not have operation manual for sand filters. Must have an operation manual for all pieces of equipment used at the facility.

  Item: Skimmer shall have an easily removable basket/screen upstream from any valve and have a Self-adjusting weir in place
  Comment: Three out of four weirs were not functioning properly due to cracked casing ( deck shifting/warping ). All skimmers must have a self-adjusting weir in place to properly sanitize water. Casing must be replaced or weirs adjusted to allow for self-adjustment.

  Item: Pool and Spa walls and floor shall be smooth and easily cleanable
  Comment: Paint was observed chipping on the bottom of the pool shell. The pool shell must be smooth, and easily cleanable. At the end of season the pool shell must be repainted.

  Item: When stairs are provided for entry into a swimming pool, a stripe at least 1 inch wide of a color contrasting with the step surface and with the swimming pool floor shall be marked at the top front edge of each tread. The stripe shall be slip-resistant.
  Comment: Steps to the pool do not have a 1 inch contrasting stripe due to fading. The stripe must be repainted to prevent injury or accident. The stripe must be contrasting color and be slip resistant.

These items must be corrected as soon as possible in order to comply with the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pool and Spa Rules. A letter regarding the actions which will be taken in order to correct all deficiencies must be submitted within 30 days to this office. If for any reason you take issue with any of the items cited regarding swimming pool rules, a variance can be requested by following the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pools manual, amended July 8th, 2009, page 57, section 641-15.7 (135I). Variance requests regarding spa rules must be made in compliance with the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Spa manual, revised July 8th, 2009, page 32, section 641-15.7 (135I).
