Notes: Chlorine levels in the spa are dangerously close to closure levels. Also that combined chlorine in both bodies of water is very high and should be reduced to prevent adverse reactions. Spa water temp also 1*F lower than closure level. Lower water temp to prevent injury. Please reorganize records to make inspection easier

  Comment: Did not have the annual review of the MSDS sheets. All employees charged with pool duties must review all MSDS sheets at least once per year. Review must be documented and verified by each employee as having understood the risks associated with such chemicals.
  Item: Records shall include results of chemical tests, results of microbial analyses, reports of complaints/injuries/illnesses, daily water temp. (spa), dates of draining/cleaning, and dates of review of MSDS

  Comment: No record of routine draining/cleaning in the spa log book. Per code the spa must be drained, cleaned, and refilled at least once every 3 weeks. Must record maintenence each time performed in the log book.
  Item: A spa containing 500 gal of water or less shall be drained once a week, a spa over 500 gal to 2000 gal shall be drained once every 2 weeks, and a spa over 2000 gal shall be drained once every 3 weeks
6) Safety Pool: 15.4(4)f(4) 17
  Comment: First aid kit was missing self-adhesive gauze bandage. First aid kits must have at a minimum self-adhesive gauze bandage, 4x4 bandage, cold compress, gloves, and band aids.
  Item: A first-aid kit shall be equipped with: band-aids, sterile 4x4 bandage compress, self-adhering gauze bandage, disposable gloves, and a chemical cold press.
7) Safety Pool: 15.4(4)b(2) 13
  Comment: Pool ladder pulls right out of base. Pool ladders must be securely anchored to prevent accident/injury.
  Item: Pool ladders, ramps, handrails, and grab rails shall be securely anchored.

These items must be corrected as soon as possible in order to comply with the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pool and Spa Rules. A letter regarding the actions which will be taken in order to correct all deficiencies must be submitted within 30 days to this office. If for any reason you take issue with any of the items cited regarding swimming pool rules, a variance can be requested by following the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pools manual, amended July 8th, 2009, page 57, section 641-15.7 (135I). Variance requests regarding spa rules must be made in compliance with the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Spa manual, revised July 8th, 2009, page 32, section 641-15.7 (135I).
