Notes: :
Routine inspection on pool today. Spa was out of commission.
Inspector closed pool due to absence of chlorine in water. The chlorine feeder has been froze for 16 days. Several other repeat violations from the last few years were also noted. Items 1,5,7,8 shall be verified in a follow up inspection by inspector prior to reopening the pool and/or spa.

  Comment: This is a rule in the Iowa Pool Code. Choose one of the following to comply: 1. Sign yourself or a staff member up for the next CPO class in Cedar Rapids on 4/30/2024 and provide proof of paid registration to inspector. 2. Contract with a CPO from another facility to be onsite at least 10 hours per week to manage pool, and be available to staff, and inspector as needed duing all times that the pool is open. Provide name and # of this CPO to inspector.

  Item: The swimming pool and/or spa water shall be tested for total alkalinity at least once in each week that they are open for use. The swimming pool and/or spa shall be tested for calcium hardness, total chlorine and cyanuric acid (outdoor pools only) at least once in each month that they are open for use
  Comment: These were only documented once in 2023. Change procedure to comply with Iowa Code.

  Item: Readings from the chlorine feeder for chlorine and pH shall be documented at 7am and every 4 hours while the pool is open. Chlorine shall be between 2.0 & 8.0, and pH shall be between 7.0 & 7.8, or the pool shall be closed.
  Comment: This is currently only being done at 9am and 2pm four days per week. Change procedure to comply with Iowa Code.

  Item: At swimming pools where lifeguards are employed, a telephone shall be available to the swimming pool staff for emergency purposes.
  Comment: Currently the telephone in pool area is not working. Fix and test weekly.

These items must be corrected as soon as possible in order to comply with the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pool and Spa Rules. A letter regarding the actions which will be taken in order to correct all deficiencies must be submitted within 30 days to this office. If for any reason you take issue with any of the items cited regarding swimming pool rules, a variance can be requested by following the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Swimming Pools manual, amended July 8th, 2009, page 57, section 641-15.7 (135I). Variance requests regarding spa rules must be made in compliance with the instructions in the Iowa Department of Public Health Spa manual, revised July 8th, 2009, page 32, section 641-15.7 (135I).
